  • Spondylosis
  • Slipped Disc
  • Scoliosis
  • Spinal Tumours
  • Spinal Injuries
  • Spondylolisthesis

Treatments offered for Spine problems

  • Fusion surgery: This surgery permanently stops the motion of the spine at the level of the degenerated disc and it works best when limited to one or two discs. In some cases, an artificial disc can also be inserted into the disc space after removing the entire degenerated disc.

  • Microdiscectomy: This keyhole surgery is performed on a prolapsed disc in the lower back that is pressing against a nerve.

  • Disc replacement: In this procedure, an artificial disc made of metal or a plastic-like biopolymer or a combination of the two, is implanted into the spine to act as a normal disc and perform its functions; allowing motion and carrying load.

  • Spondylolisthesis surgery: This surgery is done if the vertebra continues to slip out of place with the aim of relieving pain, increase functionality and stabilize the spine at the point where the vertebra has slipped.

  • Scoliosis surgery: This is spinal fusion procedure done to for people with a severely curved spine to reduce the curve and prevent the condition from getting worse.

  • Spinal injuries surgery: Surgery for spinal injuries is done to stabilise the spine using metal screws, rods and plates. After this surgery, the patients needs to go through a rehabilitation program to help him or her maximise their functionality.

  • Spinal tumours surgery: The treatment depends of where the tumour is located; outside or inside the dura lining. At Apollo hospital, the use of high-powered microscopes enables removal of even the most delicately placed spinal tumours. One such surgery is the total spondylectomy which involves removal of the entire vertebra.
