  • Physical therapy: This is used for many orthopaedic and joint conditions especially after other treatments like surgery to help a patient recover by increasing balance, flexibility, strength and motion of the affected joint or bone.

  • Surgery: To repair Achilles tendon using a tendon from another part of the foot. The Achilles tendon is the largest tendon in the body that stretches from the bone of the feel to the calf muscle.

  • Osteotomy: It involves surgically cutting a bone and realigning or reshaping it to repair a damaged joint or to shorten or lengthen a deformed bone that does not align with a joint how it should.

  • Arthroplasty: This is the surgical replacement of a joint to restore joint function.

  • Arthrodesis: Also known as joint fusion, this procedure is aimed at holding a joint in a fixed position allowing the bone to grow across that joint.

  • Physiotherapy: This is done to improve the strength of muscle and prevent permanent stiffness.

  • Bracing: The use of bracings to prevent bone fracture by enhancing stability, reducing pressure and swelling.

  • Bone grafting: This is done after curettage (treatment of fibrous dysplasia) to fill in the cavity with bone graft and stabilize the bone.

  • Trapeziectomy: Removal of a small bone located in the wrist but at the base of the thumb.

  • Total Hip Replacement: Replace a worn out or damaged hip joint with a prosthetic implant.

  • Total Knee Replacement: Replace a worn out or damaged knee with an implant.

Tests and Procedures

  • Stress test: This test determines the need for surgery on a fractured ankle by exerting pressure on the ankle.

  • Myelography: It is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure that involves getting detailed spinal structure by injecting dye into the spinal canal and taking x-rays.

  • Electromyography: This test detects the spinal nerves’ electrical activity as they transmit electrical impulses to the muscles.

  • Nerve conduction study: This test on the other hand involves measuring the strength of the nerve impulse by passing small amounts of shock through the nerve.
