Oncology Center At The Acibadem Hospital Group

Acibadem Hospital has 11 Oncology Centres which are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technology which makes both processes more precise.

The centres offer diagnosis and treatment of all types of cancers including:

  • The 3D Tomosynthesis Digital Mammography for early breast cancer detection,

  • The Endobronchial Ultrasonography mostly used to examine lesions in the digestive system, and

  • The PET-CT which examines the entire body and helps to determine whether the cancer has spread to other organs.

The cancer specialists at the hospital work together with other specialists thereby providing a multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment including complex ones.

The centres offer diagnosis and treatment of all types of cancers including:

  • Breast cancer

  • Lung cancer

  • Bone cancer

  • Prostate cancer

  • Brain cancer

  • Skin cancer

Treatments offered at Acibadem Oncology Centre

The centres performed over 100,000 chemotherapy sessions in 2017 alone and over 170,000 radiation therapy sessions. More than 7000 patients have received cancer treatment at the different oncology centres.

  • Surgical oncology: Surgery is usually the first step in the treatment of most cancers. The Acibadem oncology centre uses more advanced surgical technology, such as the da Vinci robot. This robotics system uses laparoscopic (minimally invasive) methods to perform surgery and micro incisions, while at the same time, producing 3D images that allow the surgeon to be more precise.

  • Medical Oncology: This is the use of medication to kill cancer cells either directly (such as in chemotherapy) or indirectly (such as in immunotherapy – using drugs to strengthen the immune system and make it aware of the presence of cancer cells in the body which leads to it fighting the cancer cells). Other forms of medical oncology are:

Target-Driven Biological Treatment: This treatment is a form of chemotherapy that targets specific cancer proteins and genes that aid in growth of cancer cells.

    • Hormone therapy: Some cancers such as breast cancer are sensitive to certain hormones and such can be treated through this therapy.

  • Radiation Therapy: Radiation therapy is common in many hospitals however, at Acibadem oncology centres, they make use of the most advanced radiotherapy systems. These include:

    • Gamma Knife Perfexion which is used in treatment of brain tumours without the need for surgery.

    • Cyberknife which ensures accuracy more sensitive than a millimetre.

    • LINAC: a linear accelerator that radiates tumour areas with a single dose as it protects normal healthy cells.

    • True beam: which ensures that normal cells are exposed to less radiation and in a shorter period.
